A Shelter for the Homeless
Throughout the year, we support homeless families in need of food, shelter, emotional and spiritual support.
Our faith guides us as we seek to live into the biblical call to love one another by doing justice, loving kindness, and walking in humility with God.
For this reason, we partner with the local ministry of Family Promise to live into God's call upon the church to act in Christ's love.
All prayers and loving acts of kindness are welcome here!!!
A JUST PEACE CHURCH....
As an Open and Affirming congregation, we believe in God's love for all of humanity. For our belief calls upon us to educate ourselves in the loving ways of justice and peace, which inform our just acts in our communities near and far.
In doing so, we remain active in prayer so that the Spirit of God will guide us in the ways we should go. This year, we were guided to take a Just Peace group tour of the Civil and Human Rights Museum in Atlanta, Georgia, along with touring the Peace and Justice Museum in Montgomery, Alabama.
Stay tuned for our next Just Peace Trip. Plans are already underway!
Union’s Statement on
“Being an Anti-Racist Church"
Union Congregational UCC holds a vision of being a multi-cultural, multi-racial, anti-racist congregation that more faithfully reflects the entire community of West Palm Beach.
We are a covenant faith community who believe that all people are made in God’s image, reconciled by Christ and empowered by the Holy Spirit.
We believe it is our role to take an active stance in systematically dismantling racism. A part of an anti-racism stance is acknowledging a system of white privilege in the United States which tends to perpetuate societal stereotypes in all its citizens.
We believe that our commitment to anti-racism should be reflected in the life and culture of the congregation through our policies, programs and practices as we continue to learn about racism.
We are committed to developing and working to implement strategies that dismantle racism through our adult and children’s education, Sunday services, mission giving, purchases and business practices, and community outreach and action.
We believe we are all called to work against racism and work for a society in which the words of the Gospel are realized among us.
We acknowledge that the United Church of Christ has a rich heritage of engagement in addressing racism in our society over the years, and we recognize that our Anti-Racism Journey, here at Union, is a continuing one.
Therefore, we claim the prophetic work of being an “Anti-racist Church.”
Accepted and Affirmed by a Unanimous Vote of the congregation at the Congregational Meeting held on 28 June 2020.
We hope to see you soon!
